Summary From Goodreads:
Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. Not for her license--for turning pretty. In Tally's world, your sixteenth birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to have a really great time. In just a few weeks Tally will be there.
But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to be pretty. She'd rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world--and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.
Review:
I have heard a lot about this book series so I decided that I should check it out and I am glad that I did. As soon as I started reading I loved the first sentence " The early summer sky was the color of cat vomit." that is just freaking hilarious! I have never read a book with the first sentence making me laugh for half an hour. Anywho, this book is really good! I love how it is so detailed in the writing, I could try to picture how that era might be like without being bored to death. Tally is the main character in this book and my favorite character just because she kind of reminds me of myself and seeing her evolve from being a young girl that goes with what ever everyone is doing to young women and thinking and making choices on her own. This book makes you think of how or what may happen in the future when this generation is done. All in all, I really liked this book and I am going to be starting book two later tonight! I highly recommend this book!
If you have read this series, what do you think of it?? Do you think this could happen in the near future?
