Review of Pretties

Pretties (Uglies, #2)

Title: Pretties (Uglies #2)
Author: Scott Westerfeld
Published: November 11, 2008
Pages: 384
Rating: 4/5

Summary From Goodreads:

Gorgeous. Popular. Perfect.

Perfectly wrong.

Tally has finally become pretty. Now her looks are beyond perfect, her clothes are awesome, her boyfriend is totally hot, and she's completely popular. It's everything she's ever wanted.

But beneath all the fun -- the nonstop parties, the high-tech luxury, the total freedom -- is a nagging sense that something's wrong. Something important. Then a message from Tally's ugly past arrives. Reading it, Tally remembers what's wrong with pretty life, and the fun stops cold.

Now she has to choose between fighting to forget what she knows and fighting for her life -- because the authorities don't intend to let anyone with this information survive.

Review:

This is the second book in the Uglies Series, and it is just as good as the first book! Pretties keeps the story moving along at the right pace at the right time. Tally develops a lot as a character in this book and you actually wonder if you could take the chances that she takes (I personally do not know if I could do that). Also, the writing in these books are so detailed that you actually think you are watching from a birds eye view. Pretties, also talks about how humans are violent and destroying everything, and making brainwashing humans the only possible solution. It makes you think if we keep going on this way as people, maybe our future will turn to brainwashing/ "pretty minded". All in all, I personally liked this book and will be continuing on to the next book in the series:)
